488 battery died on Sheikh Zayed – total nightmare

Message par flannerywace »

Just needed to vent a little because I'm still fuming about what happened yesterday on my way back from Abu Dhabi. Cruising down Sheikh Zayed Road, everything was perfect, music playing, sun setting, then suddenly the dashboard started flickering like a disco and the power steering got heavy out of nowhere. I managed to pull over to the hard shoulder just as the entire car shut down, and there I was, stuck in rush hour traffic with hazards on while everyone zoomed past. Called recovery and they said it would be at least 45 minutes, so I'm sitting there in the heat, watching my dream car turn into a very expensive paperweight. I've had the car for about three years and this is the first time the battery has given up on me, but apparently the extreme heat here just kills them faster than anywhere else. The recovery guy eventually showed up, gave me a jump, and told me to drive straight to a workshop because the alternator wasn't charging properly either, which just added to my stress. Anyway, I did some digging online when I got home and found https://batteryzoneuae.com/ferrari-battery-replacement/ which seems to cover exactly what I need, but I wanted to ask if anyone here has actually used them before or if I should just stick with the dealership? I'm leaning towards a specialist because the dealer quoted me a ridiculous price and a two week wait, which just isn't going to work for me since I drive this car daily. Would really appreciate any advice from people who've been through this, especially regarding the battery coding because I've read that getting that wrong can mess up the start-stop system and even the radio presets somehow.
